Even Meghan McCain Is Throwing Arlen Under The Bus

As reported by everyone yesterday, Pennsylvania Sen. Arlen Specter has switched from the GOP to the baby-eating gay Communist Democratic Party.

While most of the conservative wingnut reactions were expected; Meghan McCain expressed her disdain as well...albeit with a tad more tact:

Let me be clear: I have a lot of respect for Sen. Specter. But I also can't help but feel like he's let us down. I'm sure this was a long, hard decision. The polls were looking very bleak in his primary contest. His probable opponent was nearly 20 points ahead in many polls. And I understand how he’s been made to feel like an outcast by a small, vocal group. Still, this was an opportunity for Specter to hold his ground and set an example for progressive-minded Republicans trying to overcome one of their biggest obstacles: winning the party primaries.

Of course, this speaks to much larger problem in the GOP. We need to attract more centrist and progressive conservative voters at the primary level, so that level-headed candidates stand a chance. We need courageous Republicans more than ever. And this week, Sen. Specter turned his back. But he wasn’t the only one.

Shortly after the senator's announcement, Republican National Committee Chairman Michael Steele released the following statement:

"Some in the Republican Party are happy about this. I am not. Let’s be honest—Senator Specter didn’t leave the GOP based on principles of any kind. He left to further his personal political interests because he knew that he was going to lose a Republican primary due to his left-wing voting record. Republicans look forward to beating Sen. Specter in 2010, assuming the Democrats don’t do it first."

At its core, there is not much different about what the chairman said and what I’ve written here. Specter's decision was most likely motivated by political reasons. But that's where the similarities end. What's left is the same, tired rhetoric conservatives simply cannot seem to get past. Even someone like Mr. Steele—who was elected to be a more inclusive, open voice for Republicans—can’t escape it.

Why can't they all be like this?

Morning (News) Dump

Obama hottie speechwriter Jon Favreau was thrown under the bus by the NY Times. The bright side is that you can now call his cell and hear the hypnotic melody that is his voicemail.

Canadian fighters intercepted a Russian bomber while President Unicorn was visiting the country. Canada has fighter jets...you learn something new every day.

U.S. set to shoot down any large sparklers North Korea launches.

With W out and BO in, Michele Bachmann has developed a terminal case of jungle fever.

Justice Dept. transforms in to Woodstock within a month of transition.

Republicans better not say shit about any cute nicknames Dems come up with in 2011.

It's Only June

Things are not looking so swell for the GOP

From 3BlueDudes:

A new Democracy Corps poll has great news for the Democrats and dismal news for the Republicans. A poll of Republican-held districts indicates that the Democrats are poised for big gains in the fall elections, perhaps as many as 20-25 in the House of Representatives. A win of that sort — a true tidal wave — would give the Democrats a massive majority in the House. Sound fanciful? Yeah, it does — sorta — but consider the Democracy Corps poll before dismissing it entirely.

The poll surveyed 1,600 people in 45 GOP-held districts, from the competitive Tier 1 to tougher-to-win Tier 2 with the named incumbents and their opponents used rather than generic match-ups. The results showed the Democratic candidate winning the Tier 1 races 51%-42%, and the Tier 2 races 48-45 percent.

Trinity Throws Hillary Under The Bus

From Ben Smith:

In this clip from Obama's church, another Chicago minister, Father Michael Pfleger, mocks Hillary's tears at some length.

"I’m white! I’m entitled! There’s a black man stealing my show!" Pfleger says in falsetto.

He's introduced by the new pastor, who when he's done thanks God for the message and the messenger.

UPDATE: Pfleger appeared at Trinity last Sunday.

Hillary Clinton Now Lives Under A Bus, Dodging Keith Olbermann's Sniper Fire

Hillary Has A June Deadline Of Her Own (Suck it, Howard Dean)

Holy crap. Where to begin.

This election cycle has brought us some pretty racist moments.

But what's spookier than a black man running around the White House touching stuff?

The possible assassination of the first black POTUS/Messiah/OMGEEZ!!!<3:)<3<3!!!<3.

Yes, she did just say that. Then, realizing that was probably a really silly thing to say, the Aryan Shegod clarified her misspeaking:

All good, right?

Ben Smith points out this isn't the first time:

This isn't the first time Clinton has invoked Bobby Kennedy's assassination as part of an argument about the length of the primary process. On March 6 she told Time :

I think people have short memories. Primary contests used to last a lot longer. We all remember the great tragedy of Bobby Kennedy being assassinated in June in L.A. My husband didn't wrap up the nomination in 1992 until June, also in California. Having a primary contest go through June is nothing particularly unusual. We will see how it unfolds as we go forward over the next three to four months.

Basically we're all screwed and the elderly Juan McCain will be POTUS for about a week. Then it's eight glorious years of President Elder Willard Xenu Romney.

WALNUTS! Throws Hagee's Endorsement Under The Bus

From HuffPo:

Republican John McCain has rejected the endorsement of an influential Texas televangelist criticized for his anti-Catholic views.

John Hagee, the Texas preacher, withdrew his endorsement at the same time.

McCain issued a statement after audio surfaced in which Hagee said God sent Adolf Hitler to help Jews reach the promised land.

McCain said in a statement: "Obviously, I find these remarks and others deeply offensive and indefensible, and I repudiate them. I did not know of them before Reverend Hagee's endorsement, and I feel I must reject his endorsement as well."

Hagee also issued a statement saying he was tired of baseless attacks and he was removing himself from any active role in the 2008 campaign.

The End?

Idol judges throw Jason Castro under the bus.

May be the last episode I watch of the show.

Syesha bores me.

David Cook is a pompous cover artist.

David Archuleta annoys the shit out me with that fake Disney G-movie act. He is a eunuch.

UPDATE:

For what it's worth, Castro now has his own doll.

From dlisted:

The shit above is a doll someone made of Jason Castro. They put it up on eBay. They forgot to add the most important thing. His bong!!!! Methinks that evil (and delicious) demon, marijuana, had a lot to do with his performance last night. This is why potheads and live television do NOT mix. So, Jason Castro effed up big time by completely forgetting the words to one of my favorite Dylan tunes, "Mr. Tambourine Man." My drunk ass even knew the lyrics! I was singing along and kept going when he fucked up and I'm not even competing for a damn record contract!

This dumb bitch let the weed fuck him up! Hey, it happens. People won't care if he messes up his lyrics when he's singing for quarters in the subway in a couple of months. Aww....Castro is such a lovable pothead, but get thee shit together! You know Castro and Paula Abdul do bong hits in the "green" room. It ain't called the green room for nothing.

Elderly Juan McCain Threw W Under The Bus

Famous Greek beard Arianna Huffington has just released a shocking revalation. It seems that eight years after the fact, she wants to tell us that both she and the elderly Juan McCain were in attendance at a liberal elitist baby-eating dinner party in LA. WALNUTS! confided in her that he did not vote for George W Bush in 2000. Neither did Cindy McVicodin, who was still fuming after W and Karl Rove had aborted their black baby in South Carolina:

At a dinner party in Los Angeles not long after the 2000 election, I was talking to a man and his wife, both prominent Republicans. The conversation soon turned to the new president. "I didn't vote for George Bush" the man confessed. "I didn't either," his wife added. Their names: John and Cindy McCain (Cindy told me she had cast a write-in vote for her husband).

The fact that this man was so angry at what George Bush had done to him, and at what Bush represented for their party, that he did not even vote for him in 2000 shows just how far he has fallen since then in his hunger for the presidency. By abandoning his core principles and embracing Bush -- both literally and metaphorically -- he has morphed into an older and crankier version of the man he couldn't stomach voting for in 2000.

Elderly Juan McCain Throws Oil Under The Bus

Topping learning there is no Santa Claus and seeing Hermione Granger's whatnot on the intertubes on the list of things that have shattered my worldview, the kindly ol' senile gent from Arizona just let me know that George Bush and Dick Cheney lied to me.

Juan McCain had another senior moment: slipping up and telling me Operation Iraqi Freedom was not at all about freedoms or terrors or little Iraqi lapel pins. It was all so that stupid bitch next to me at the gas pumps that can't drive her Excursion in the first place has plenty of oil to endager people for 100 miles.

The elderly man immediately blacked out and fell asleep for 14 hours. He awoke the next day and, after someone reminded him of what had happened, had this to say:

"No, no, I was talking about that we had fought the Gulf War for several reasons," McCain told reporters.

One reason was Saddam Hussein's invasion of Kuwait, he said. "But also we didn't want him to have control over the oil, and that part of the world is critical to us because of our dependency on foreign oil, and it's more important than any other part of the world," he said.

"If the word `again' was misconstrued, I want us to remove our dependency on foreign oil for national security reasons, and that's all I mean," McCain said.

"The Congressional Record is very clear: I said we went to war in Iraq because of weapons of mass destruction," he said.

Still confused by the flashing lights and the crazy image taking contraption that was stealing his soul, McWALNUTS! then had this to say about the above stuff that he didn't say:

But then when specifically asked by an Associated Press reporter if, when he made the statement, he was “thinking about the first Gulf War,” he said no.

“No, I was thinking about- it’s not hard to- we will not,” McCain stumbled. “By eliminating our dependency on foreign oil, we will not have to have our national security threatened by a cut off of that oil. Because we will be dependent, because we won’t be dependent, we will no longer be dependent on foreign oil. That’s what my remarks were.”

He then screamed "What the hell are you lookin' at!?!?", punched the reporter in the throat, and shuffled his way back to his plane before he miss Jeopardy.
