"And they fell through the Clinton Administration, and the Bush Administration, and each successive administration has said that somehow these communities are gonna regenerate and they have not. And it's not surprising then they get bitter, they cling to guns or religion or antipathy to people who aren't like them or anti-immigrant sentiment or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations."
Obama made a problematic judgment call in trying to explain working class culture to a much wealthier audience. He described blue collar Pennsylvanians with a series of what in the eyes of creamy Californians might be considered pure negatives: guns, clinging to religion, antipathy, xenophobia.

Fucking FOX news is already on this one. I just caught it on the O'Reilly Factor a minute ago. The fucked up part is that it sounds totally true to me. I guess that since Obama said it that makes him an elitist who doesn't understand working class people.
I don't see the republicans doing anything for these people either... except playing to their fears of losing their guns to gay abortionist messicans!
While it may be true, he's gotta watch what he says. Starting to look like the wind-surfing elitist, Frankenkerry. I read this great piece by Joe Klein at time that said he can still keep his lofty inspirational schtick, but if he wants to win the general, he's gonna have to be corny sometimes.
And stop eating babies and having gay orgies at his black panther church for satanic terrorists.
